Humanoid Species Welcome
Unfortunately, Brunswick’s only allows humanoid species to live in the manor due to the availability of our living quarters. No animal hybrids allowed (i.e. centaurs). If you are unfamiliar with any of these species, feel free to look through the book located beneath this list to brush up. • Shape-shifters • Werewolves • Vampires • Greater Elves • Lesser Elves • Fallen Angels • Demons • Mermaids
We do not care what you decide to do outside of Brunswick’s, as long as nothing harmful is brought onto the manor. All applicants must sign their application in the designated area to show that they will never purposely bring no harm to any of Brunswick’s staff or residents.

Shape-shifters Shape-shifters are perhaps the most common species around. Because of the species’ ability to change into different animals, they are in plenty. It is uncommon for a shape-shifter to be able to transform into more than one animal. When born, shape-shifters are actually humans with heightened senses and physical abilities. Later in life, usually around the beginning of their teenage years, a shape-shifter earns their new form. Sometimes they will earn their form earlier than that if the shape-shifter is in great danger. Studies have shown that the form a shape-shifter earns is often one they were interested in or one that seems to mirror their personality. Besides having heightened senses and stronger physical abilities, shape-shifters can sense emotions and change into their form painlessly at will. Werewolves Werewolves are now considered an endangered species, after the Great War between them and the vampires—resulting in the Vampire victory. Unlike shape-shifters, werewolves do not fully change into a wolf. They are stuck in a half-human, half-wolf shape when they shift. Some may describe the werewolf as a strongly-built furry human with a wolf head, hands, and feet. Originally, werewolves could only change during the full moon, giving them their original name, Children of the Moon. No one knows what changed, but werewolves can now change nearly whenever they please. They don’t usually like spending much time in their second forms, due to their almost uncontrollable rage and hunger. Werewolves are also known to change when angered, making them a greatly feared species. They, too, have heightened senses and physical abilities, and can also sense one’s emotions. Vampires There are two kinds of vampires; those who were turned by another or those born as a vampire. At Brunswick’s, we only allow vampires who were turned. Vampires are half-dead immortal beings. They cannot eat or drink normal human food; instead they must feed off of the blood of humans. While animal blood may sustain them for a while, the blood will soon seem to hold no nutrients. Vampires do not have a heartbeat, nor do they have to breathe—yet some do to seem more human. The bite of a vampire is not venomous unless the vampire wishes for it to be. Vampires have incredible senses and physical abilities. Some have slightly special ‘powers’, such as compulsion, mind-reading, and future prediction. In the sunlight, a Vampire’s skin starts to severely itch and even burn. Vampires burn and die if they stay in the sun for more than a couple hours; so they usually prefer the night. However, a rare amount of vampires show immunity to the sun’s effect. Vampires can only be killed with a wooden object through the heart. The only thing that hurts is wood, which can kill, and silver, which only maims or hurts. Greater Elves These are the kind of elves that own and manage Brunswick’s. Greater Elves have a great sense of compassion and intelligence, which makes them nearly perfect workers. They are quite tall, some easily reaching seven feet tall. Greater Elves have a special healing ability, which can easily heal a cut or bruise. Because of this, they are quick to heal themselves. The only noticeable different between these elves and humans is the elves’ pointed ears, height, and incredible beauty. Most Greater Elves have a great affinity with potions and spells. In other cultures, Greater Elves are sometimes called ‘Light Elves’. They seem to have a better purpose than Lesser Elves, although their differences aren’t exactly light and dark nor good and evil. Both Greater and Lesser Elves are able to “bond” with an animal; creating an empathetic or telepathic connection between them. Lesser Elves Lesser Elves are easily irritated and angered, and it’s not anything that they can help. They appear mostly as a human, except for their very large pointed ears and always pale skin or dark skin. These elves have no healing ability; instead they have the power to impose physic pain on other beings. This power grows when an elf gets older, but it is also something someone must train. Lesser Elves have been known to nearly go crazy without being trained, for the power seems to turn on them. In some cultures, a Lesser Elf is known as a Dark Elf—it is a highly inaccurate name; for a lesser elf is in no way ‘dark’ or ‘evil’ except by their own will. They have a great affinity in spell and potion-making. Both Greater and Lesser Elves are able to “bond” with an animal; creating an empathetic or telepathic connection between them. Fallen Angels Fallen Angels, sometimes called the Fallen, aren’t exactly ‘fallen’, as one might think. They are either the offspring of an angel exiled from heaven and a demon, or an angel exiled from the skies. Both types are known as Fallen Angels, as they have ‘fallen’ from the skies. A Fallen Angel has no wings, but they can hover in air and jump as much as a three-story building with practice. They have incredible hearing and can sense one’s emotions. The Fallen Angels can create magic out of thin air, such as moving earth, water, air, and fire, though their power is limited. Using this power will drain them of their energy quickly, making it only a quick defense, not a great battle weapon. Fallen Angels have quick reflexes and are actually very skilled with weapons. Some choose to be blacksmiths because of their reflexes; their hands can easily shape the object how they wish. Most Fallen Angels, though not all, are very solitary and do not enjoy another’s company or are very self-conscious of it. However, animals really seem to enjoy Fallen Angels, and vice-versa. Demons Demons are a lot alike Fallen Angels, although they are different in several ways. Like the Fallen, they can hover and jump quite high, have incredible hearing, and have quick reflexes. They enjoy tricking people and making people angry, but their temperament is actually very low. The species is actually quite patient, probably because most believe they will return to the skies and become one with their cousins, the Angels. Demons can easily bring up fire and control it, but doing anything more than lighting a fire or ‘throwing’ a fireball will drain their energy. If all their energy is drained, they will go into a coma-like state where the only thing that will wake them is the energy of another, which comes in the form of blood. Demons are a complicated species; they feed off of the energy of other beings, and the only way to do this to take blood. Because of this, they are seen as devilish predators. Carnivorous animals enjoy a demon’s company, and while the real reason is unknown, it is suspected that the animals sense the demon’s predatorish nature. Mermaids Only just recently has Brunswick’s allowed mermaids into the home. Mermaids have a human form, in which they can walk around and do normal things. However, they easily become dehydrated and must drink a lot of water. They do not gain their tails with a touch of water; they do it freely at will. Their tails take place of their legs and have large, shiny scales. These scales become dull when a mermaid is sick. Mermaids are always very beautiful and creative creatures. They love singing, making music, painting, and other artistic things. Most enjoy collecting shells, feathers, stones, and other pretty keepsakes. Being mermaids, they are able to breathe underwater and stay there as long as they want. Most underwater animals (with the exception of animals such as sharks, which may see them as prey) love mermaids and see them as their superiors, and also someone they can go to for guidance and healing. Mermaids are able to communicate with underwater creatures, not in a way that any other species can. Some mermaids’ singing is known to draw humans into the water, which gives them the “Siren” nickname on Earth.
